Had some of that at Supernova recently, met some lovely people, chatted till the very last hours of it. Saw more cos players than you can poke a stick at, sold out of our comics, and came away on a high. In fact the whole month of April, building up to it was great. It seemed like the world opened up its twinkly eyes for a moment just to see what was happening.
It was the start of Fils
birthday "week" where we indulged (because we can) in cakeness. He also has a new App out for the iPad that is FREE, called Zooniverse: Superficial Surgery. He's been working on it for months and now it's done. Aaaand it's beeee-u-tifuuulll!!! Check it out here----->*<-----
Look out for the next installment in JULY.
We went to the Ledger Awards the Friday night prior to the Con and were impressed by the positive encouragement and sense of community that was there. Grats to all the recipients and well done to the organizers. The Australian comic scene is quite small here compared to the US so it's really cool to see things stirring here.
Conventions are interesting, there's always the chance of meeting somebody fun, and I don't just mean stars or cos play characters, I mean "normal" people, who like comics and usually have a kid in tow who is nearly passing out from excitement. Finding out what they like to read or what shows they've seen, it's sometimes surprising to find different generations remembering your work and even bonding to it from an early childhood memory.
To finish off the month we went to a local event called the Home Cooked Comics Festival at Northcote. Lots of small press and comic creators mainly, which I really liked, because it was just about comics! We sold out of our Zooniverse stock! More have been printed since and are ready for the Oz Con in July!
